After receiving a Masters by Research in Nanochemistry and Materials Chemistry, and a MSci in Chemistry, from the University of Birmingham, Jonathan went on to attain a PhD at the University of South Wales. His work was focusing on the potential use of transition metal and oligomer analogues for proton exchange membrane fuel cell applications, and this was followed by a postdoc in potential hydrogen storage materials. His expertise lies in inorganic synthesis on the nano- and macroscale and characterisation and analysis involving numerous techniques. His current project with Dr Gareth Owen involves developing novel transition metal materials and complexes, and determining their hydrogen storage capacities.
