Hayley’s academic path began in 2008 when she came to the University of Glamorgan to study a BSc in Psychology. She submitted her PhD in 2018, which focused on the psychological implications of teleworking from an employee personal well-being perspective. Working in collaboration with other senior members of the department in 2013, she acted as a research assistant on a project funded by the Youth Justice Board, investing the speech, language and communication needs of young people from Wales in the youth justice system. In 2014 Hayley worked in collaboration with The Wallich, a homelessness charity in Wales, acting as lead researcher on a project funded by the Welsh Assembly Government. The project was a research and scoping exercise into the impact of alcohol on older people across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. Since 2014 Hayley has worked as a Research Assistant for Newport Community Counselling Service (NCCS) and Senior Research Assistant at the Dyscovery Centre, a clinic which specialises in assessment and intervention for children and adults with developmental disorders. Alongside these roles, Hayley has taught on a broad spectrum of psychological subject disciplines, including both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Her areas of expertise include developmental disorders, occupational psychology and individual differences. Hayley became a full-time lecturer in psychology at the University of South Wales in 2016. In 2018 she was appointed Course Leader for Psychology with Developmental Disorders, and later appointed Course Leader for BSc Psychology. In 2024, alongside Course Leadership, Hayley was given Programme Lead responsibility. Deputising on behalf of Heads of Subject, she has been leading on Continuous Monitoring and sits on the Faculty Quality Assurance Committee (FQAC). She has played a key role in ensuring team performance aligns with strategic goals and excellence and has been central to planning and organising.
