Markers of cardiorespiratory fitness associated with post operative morbidity, and mortality. Exercise training.

George is a Senior Lecturer at the University of South Wales with specialism in Exercise Science and Data Analysis. With experience leading a BSc Sport and Exercise Science programme, his teaching responsibilities cover Exercise Physiology, Research Methods, Nutrition, and Dissertation Supervision (BSc and MSc). His doctoral studies, in collaboration with the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board Department of Anaesthetics, focussed on identifying markers of preoperative cardiorespiratory fitness associated with post-operative outcomes following major surgery. This involved retrospective collation and analysis of large patient databases to identify and optimise the interpretation of markers associated with poor postoperative outcome and is used to inform patient care decisions. Two papers from this work, rated 3 or 4*, were included in the 2021 Research Excellence Framework submission.

George has sporting interests in endurance performance, is a keen marathon runner and a previsous international road cyclist.
