Research interests

Dr. Gabrielle Hale is a Lecturer in Clinical Psychology and Mental Health at the University of South Wales. Her general research interests include the impact of physical activity on mental health and well-being. Gabrielle was awarded her PhD in April 2024, which explored the feasibility and acceptability of professional football club community trust interventions that are designed to improve young people's mental health. This project was part-funded by Cheltenham Town Football Club Community Trust and was conducted in collaboration with the English Football League (EFL) Trust and mental health charity Mind. Gabrielle is also interested in research that explores the psychological impact of women's reproductive health.

Teaching interests

Gabrielle has taught across all undergraduate and postgraduate courses within the Psychology Department, including BSc Psychology, BSc Childhood Development, and MSc Clinical Psychology. Her main teaching interests include modules that focus on mental health, physical health, and children and young people.

Supervision

Gabrielle supervises dissertation projects at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Her main interests include research projects that focus on the mental health benefits of physical activity, as well as projects that focus on the psychosocial impact of women's reproductive health.
