Personal profile

Research interests

I am a lecturer in Criminal Law/Litigation and Criminal Evidence, and a lawyer with experience in family law specialising in matters relating to children, and criminal law, both adult and youth courts.

My PhD into International Children's Rights investigated whether it is possible to find commonalities underpinning the legal framework around children and child rights within State parties which, in the view of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child, are some of those who have achieved better implementation of the Convention.

I am interested in continuing to research how law and society interact in the fields of children’s rights and am exploring the use of social research methods for legal research.

I am currently working on presentations and papers on:

  • Discrimination of Children
  • The use of the UNCRC in UK judgments
  • Environmental rights within children’s rights
