I am a wildlife ecologist and conservation biologist with interests in avian and sun bear ecology and conservation, biodiversity survey and monitoring techniques, and conservation management of wildlife in, and ecosystem restoration of modified terrestrial landscapes.

Current projects:

• Sun bear conservation in ecosystem restoration concessions and acacia plantations, Sumatra (IPB University, Restorasi Ekosistem Riau).
• Evaluating the use of artificial canopy bridges to aid the movement of monkeys through fragmented landscapes, Costa Rica.
• Bird-habitat interactions along environmental gradients, the Philippines (Bristol Zoological Society, Philippine Initiative for Environmental Conservation).
• Population ecology of Northern Wheater, Wales (Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales).
• Bear population assessment and monitoring, southeast Asia (IUCN SSC Bear Specialist Group).
• Evaluating biodiversity monitoring approaches to inform upland management and restoration (Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority).

I am the Research Lead for our Earth, Ecology and Environment Research and Innovation Group and a Research Fellow with Welsh Government developing biodiversity targets and indicators to support nature positive policy.
