Research Profile

My research broadly spans animal behaviour responses during parental care and within interactions with human activities.

Previously, as a Postdoctoral Researcher and Research Fellow in the Marine Conservation Ecology and Management group, I investigated the human wildlife conflict between fisheries and pinnipeds in the UK. This included assessing potential determinants behind negative pinniped interactions and assessing the current impact of pinniped interactions on UK fisheries, as well as the perception of fishers to pinnipeds. I collaborated with the Marine Management Organisation to assist with assessing the viability of potential management mitigation strategies.

My PhD concentrated on the parental care behaviour of shorebird species in Madagascar, with an aim to understanding the differences between an endangered species compared to two non-endangered species in the same habitat. We are currently running two projects on the parental care differences between the three species in relation to the life history traits, parental care length and sex ratio differences.

I have also previously worked in sea turtle conservation (in Costa Rica, Cape Verde and Ghana) and artisanal bycatch of turtles and sharks (Ghana).
