Personal profile

Research interests

I have worked in the field of professional education and learning for over twenty years. During that time, I have worked in the private sector, NHS (public health policy), further education and higher education. My PhD research examined healthcare improvement projects in medical education using actor-network theory and ethnographic approaches, and I have published a book based on my research entitled Engaging with actor-network theory as a methodology in education research. I am first author for a publication that was published in the BMJ, entitled Mobilising or standing still? A narrative review of Surgical Safety Checklist knowledge as developed in 25 highly cited papers from 2009 to 2016. My research interests include actor-network theory in education contexts, and I am currently researching the notion of resilience from a sociomaterial perspective.
