Personal profile

Research interests

My research interests reflect my inter-connecting roles of therapist, supervisor and theatre practitioner. To date, I have written and presented predominantly about the practice and methodology of Life Story Theatre which I developed with my friend, colleague and Re-Live Co-Founder, Karin Diamond. I have a particluar interest in therapeutic and creative work with military veterans and families, specifically the emerging construct of Moral Injury and the complex challenges this presents to both society and the mental health profession. I am interested in how creative and holistic approaches can complement and strengthen clinical interventions; viewing morally injurious experiences through a wider lens which encompassses spirituality and acknowledges a "soul wound".

I recently conducted a qualitative study into the lived experiences of Arts and Health practitioners and the impact of supervision and reflective practice on their personal and professional wellbeing. I hope to publish on this topic soon.
