Expertise 

The University of South Wales has a strong tradition of health science education at all levels, from undergraduate training to postgraduate study and research.

By focusing on the workplace and preparation for practice, it allows specialist research units and centres to operate across the spectrum of health, education, sport and science.

Multidisciplinary approach

Although staff members are aligned to one research area, the Faculty have adopted a holistic approach and collaboration across the different research units and groups is common. Researchers create links with health economics, social policy and psychology providing solutions to real-life problems.

The Faculty has four Schools 

  • The School of Psychology, Early Years and Therapeutic Studies has a strong reputation of applied study, giving students the opportunities to gain work and clinical experience, and accreditations to help them secure future employment.
  • The School of Education has an excellent reputation for the delivery of our teacher training and education courses. We ensure our courses remain relevant and that our graduates are well prepared to build successful careers. 
  • The School of Health, Sport and Professional Practice encompasses different subject areas ranging from Sport, Chiropractic, Policing and Security and Social Work and Health and Social Care Management
  • The School of Care Sciences aims to provide students with attributes, skills and knowledge necessary to deliver a high standard of care in all contemporary healthcare settings. The School encompasses Nursing and Health Sciences and Midwifery.As well as offering a number of undergraduate and postgraduate options, we also offer a number of short courses in nursing for students and health professionals to develop their skills.

Within health and social care, the Faculty have established units of national and international renown in learning disabilities, genetics education and public engagement, and health economics.
