Description
This visit was funded by Tiath Inward Mobility Award - During Dr. Khan's visit, the focus was on fostering collaboration between the Sino-Pak Center for Artificial Intelligence at the Pak-Austria Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology (PAF IAST), Pakistan, and the Automotive and Electronics research centers at the University of South Wales (USW). The collaboration extended to the Center for Automotive Power Systems Engineering (CAPSE), leveraging their battery testing resources for the development of joint research projects, including contributions to the Research Excellence Framework (REF) and the joint supervision of PhD students. A key element of the visit was Dr. Khan’s seminar, during which he introduced his research team and university at USW. The seminar aimed to establish connections with other departments at USW and explore opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration.Dr. Khan dedicated significant time to supporting existing PhD students, particularly those under the supervision of Dr. Hammad, with a specific focus on Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity in Electric Vehicles (EVs), and the automotive sector. This collaborative effort enhanced ongoing research activities and contributed to the academic development of the students involved.
Furthermore, the visit included joint ventures and visits to companies in South Wales, such as YUASA, Riversimple, Panasonic, and Continental Zytec. These engagements aimed to initiate collaborations with new partners and foster relationships that could contribute to future joint research endeavours involving USW, PAF IAST, and Welsh companies. The ultimate goal of these activities was to lay the groundwork for funded research projects with tangible impact. The joint research ventures not only contributed to academic excellence but also formed a crucial part of a Research Excellence Framework (REF) impact case study, demonstrating the practical implications and contributions of the collaborative research efforts
