Research meeting with OFSTED Early Years Childcare Sector in England

Meeting held with representatives from Ofsted associated with the early years childcare sector n England. This reviewed recent collaboration with Ofsted in respect to the generation and publication (with the Office for National Statistics) on varying levels of access to childcare provision at local level across England (https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/educationandchildcare/articles/childcareaccessibilitybyneighbourhood/2024-06-04)

The meeting explored on-going methodological issues, provided on opportunity for the exchange of ideas and the sharing of experiences and best-practice in generating such information, and discussed pathways to further developments in this field including the potential for such measures to assess how policy and reforms are impacting on the accessibility of childcare for working parents and local labour markets, and the potential for targeting local interventions to boost labour market participation and support specific sectors or groups of parents.
