Merck Serono: Sharing best practice in Fertility Nursing. Expert speaker - topic Coping with infertility: Helping women to help themselves

Activity: Talk or presentationInvited talk

Description

This was a meeting for fertility nurses in Southern Ireland where invited experts spoke to perspectives on understanding and intervening to help those dealing with infertility and fertility treatment. My talk explained the theoretical and research background to understanding the psychosocial experiences of women who were infertile and undergoing treatment, and ways to help them cope (including the Positive Reappraisal Coping Intervention I developed. See Lancastle and Boivin, 2008)). The ain is to bridge the psychology-nursing research-practice interface and to give nurses ideas for simple, self-help strategies that women can be encouraged to use when dealing with infertility and fertility treatment.
