Enhancing Student Engagement and Collaboration Through Blackboard Ultra

Description

Abstract
As a lecturer, I noticed recurring challenges with student engagement, such as free-riding, lack of motivation, and reluctance to take responsibility during workshops and group projects. To address these issues, I implemented an engagement plan leveraging Blackboard Ultra as a digital platform to enhance preparation and participation. Students were required to use Blackboard Ultra to engage in evidence-based discussions, debates, and analyses with their team members prior to attending workshops. Their inputs, documented on the platform, along with their in-class performance, were evaluated, marked, and followed up with personalized feedback via Blackboard Ultra. This approach not only streamlined the preparation process but also fostered a more collaborative and disciplined learning environment. The results have been excellent, with noticeable improvements in student confidence, peer engagement, communication skills, and overall discipline.
