Digital Storytelling Project

Description

The first creative intervention as part of my Arts and Minds Residency in Newtown Ebbw Vale.

This intervention involved working with 8 Newtown tenants and residents and 5 Tai Calon staff members to facilitate the creation of their own digital stories about an aspect of their lives. This activity:

• Changed existing thinking and attitudes towards the self, imagination creativity and the arts
• Improved communication and attitude between tenants and residents and Tai Calon staff
• Increased participant confidence
• Generated a sense of shared endeavour
• Gave each individual the opportunity to use their voices
• Built trust between tenants and residents and Tai Calon Community Housing
• Built trust between the Tai Calon community and the artist (and in turn the arts in general) – looking forward to subsequent creative activity within the community
• Increased access to the arts
