Description
Abstract: The Homicide Investigation and Forensic Science (HIFS) Project aims to provide a detailed understanding of how forensic sciences and technologies contribute to the police investigation of homicide in Britain. In this presentation we provide an overview of the research undertaken, focusing on the methodology and the nature of the data captured. We describe some of the knowledge gaps, tensions and organisational changes that prompted the project, and some that have happened since it began in January 2015. We explain why and how an ethnographic approach was adopted, and how we have begun to analyse such a large and complex dataset.
