Crynodeb
Services and professionals need to adapt and deliver effective support that reduces the risk of families experiencing unnecessary hardship and inequality in their caring role. Services and professionals need to recognise cultural and family diversity so that the experiences and needs of individual family carers are valued. Providing support needs to be seen as an evolving process as individuals with a learning disability and their carer's journey through the lifecycle. Collaborative relationships should be built on an ethos of partnership, involvement and respect. The experiences of individual family carers needs to be listened to and learnt from so that proactive support can be planned and delivered to meet their specific needs.
