With the ever evolving world of Building Information Modelling (BIM) within the
construction industry, it is inevitable that practitioners in all areas of construction will be developing and introducing methods in which BIM can support, and enhance the ways that these different areas work, collaborate and communicate. It has become increasingly apparent that BIM is going to play an important role in the future of the UK Construction Industry and the aim of this paper was to identify how BIM can be used within Health and Safety’ to enhance the identification and management of risk. In order to achieve this aim, in addition to a Literature Review, a trial/study was conducted to develop a BIM to determine how a Risk Matrix could be combined within a BIM package, namely Revit. The paper concludes by suggesting that setting a number of user identified parameters within a Revit model can make it a useful tool throughout all areas of construction, throughout the life cycle of an Asset.
