    Crynodeb

The memorial brass of Richard and Joan Foxwist in Llanbeblig (Caerns) is entirely conventional in its iconography but the inscription makes no mention of prayer for their souls. While this may be the responsibility of their children, it ties in with a generally more positive approach to death and the fate of the soul in late medieval Wales. This in turn may help with our understanding of the trajectory of the Reformation in Wales.
