Crynodeb

Geographical accessibility is often defined as the ease with which residents within a given area can reach a particular service or facility. There has been a long history of academic endeavour to measure geographical accessibility and over this period a wide variety of techniques and metrics have been proposed. The primary purpose of this document is to explain and demonstrate an Add-In tool for the ArcMap GIS. This tool computes so-called Floating Catchment Area geographical accessibility scores in the context of the provision of sporting facilities in Wales. A very brief overview of basic concepts is first provided to help put the use of this tool into context.
