Crynodeb

This presentation examines the different ways in which geographers have engaged with the visual arts in recent years. It identifies four approaches in particular: the study of the visual representation of people, places and landscapes; the role of art in creating a sense of place; the circulation and flow of art objects; and the influence of space and spatial distribution on the way audiences view art in spaces such as exhibitions. The presentation looks at how these four approaches can be usefully combined to study art from a geographical perspective.
