Based on the initial government proposals for the new system of financing students and Universities and some other research under certain set assumptions, I prepared a spreadsheet showing how much debt the government would be writing off after 30 years and how virtually no student would be able to pay off any of the capital proportion of the loan during that 30 years and that the scheme was really a disguised graduate income tax which was what the architect of the scheme (Vince Cable) wanted to do in the first place.
