Please Sir! Can I Come Out of the Closet into the Classroom?’ – British Low Culture and Representations of Queer Masculinities in Education

This chapter outlines the ways in which British low culture (such as children’s comics, television sitcom, pulp novels, graffiti, etc.) offers everyday representations of queer masculinities in education. Therefore, it is envisaged that this chapter will provide an insight into how notions of queer masculinities (both positive and negative) are perpetuated within society as a result of the consumption (enactment even) of such cultural texts. This chapter also gives insights into the multiple ways in which cultural representations of schooling are encountered through mediated texts.
