The aim of this paper is to present the development and initiation of a blended e-learning strategy in the University of Glamorgan Business School (GBS). The paper draws on a range of data gathered from students and faculty staff. The impact of the strategy on key stakeholders including management, academic staff, administrative staff and students within GBS is appraised. The paper outlines the impact of the strategy on pedagogical practices within the School. A diagrammatical conceptualisation of the strategy is provided to clarify the interrelationships within this complex and multi faceted process. The study utilises a case study methodology to illustrate the development of the blended e-learning process within (GBS). The data collection methodology utilised semi structured interviews with key stakeholders including the faculty executive, management, academic staff and students. GBS has introduced a blended learning strategy to improve the consistency of practice and improve the student experience. The objective of the strategy is to drive the adoption of blended e-learning pedagogic approaches which is predicated on providing a range of technologically diverse, but relevant, range of student leaning experiences within GBS which are also capable of providing a unique point of attraction for potential students wishing to study at GBS in the future. Such a strategy is proposed to increase and enhance pedagogical flexibility within the design of academic schemes. The design of the Blended learning strategy drew upon existing tutor expertise and good practice from a previous European funded e-learning project. The initial aims of the strategy were to: - identify a base line standard for GBS modules across all undergraduate and postgraduate modules in terms of virtual learning environment (VLE) content Provide training to all GBS Academic staff in the use of the VLE to ensure compliance and a consistent range of student learning experiences. This study will be of interest to Business School strategic programme managers and academic staff. It will inform the construction of effective blended e-learning strategies and highlights appropriate pedagogical practices.
