Crynodeb
The music of Life on Mars contrasts music from the 1973 setting of the series with commissioned music that is heavily synthesized and frequently alienating and drone based. This chapter investigates this relationship and the way it is frequently used to highlight central character Tyler’s alternating immersion in, and alienation from, the 1973 world he finds himself. The Chapter also investigates the series’ use of leitmotif and intertextuality. And also at the way that some of the musical conventions established in series 1 are broken in the second series.
