Crynodeb
Gilbert Newton Lewis proposed his theory of electron sharing between atoms, to produce a stable bond, in 1916 (Lewis, 1916). Since then, Lewis structures have been a valuable tool in explaining the stability of covalent molecules and ions that contan covalent bonds. The term covalent derives from 'cooperative sharing of valence electrons' (Langmiur, 1919).
