The aim of this session is to introduce an innovative approach to embedding personal and professional development skills in STEM subject curricula, share our evaluation strategy and outcomes (warts and all) in order to spark discussion to build on successes and learn from attendees. Taking on board student feedback from a traditional delivery mode (lectures and tutorials) for a module entitled ‘Professionalism & Governance in Cyber Security’, the module was completely restructured using an immersive learning model. Adopting an authentic learning curriculum design approach, the module involves students working on live industry projects. By the end of the session attendees will have a clearer understanding of the benefits and pitfalls of such an approach, and a practical understanding of how it can be adopted in STEM subject areas.
