Crynodeb

This commissioned and peer reviewed book chapter draws attention to various overlapping critical concerns between two closely related fields of research - Adaptation Studies and Translation Studies - which share a great deal in terms of methodologies, terminologies and objects of critical investigation, yet do not communicate extensively with one another and more often than not, fail to recognise what links them together. The two concepts are undeservedly rarely mentioned in the same academic study or practitioner's account today. The interdisciplinary and interdiscursive chapter surveys overlapping conceptual and methodological areas - typologies and definitions in particular, from historical landmarks of theorising both concepts, extending the scope of enquiry to the even younger study of remediation. The will be done with the explicit aim of bringing the disciplines in question closer, while maintaining an awareness of the medium-specific aspects of research ongoing in these fields that may justify the current division between these interdisciplinary areas.
