Aims and intended learning outcomes. This article discusses the principles and practice of exposure therapy. After reading this article, reviewing the recommended reading, and reflecting on your practice you will be able to: Discuss the evidence-based knowledge that underpins exposure therapy practice. Provide exposure therapy with a suitable client (e.g. a client with an anxiety disorer) under the supervision of a cognitive behaviour therapist. Reflect upon the exposure therapy provided and review the strengths and weaknesses of exposure therapy in day to day clinical practice.
