Crynodeb

In this paper, we describe the simple doping of a conventional
light-emitting polymer with a helically chiral aromatic small
molecule. This results in morphologically distinct thin films with
circularly polarised (CP) polymer photoluminescence and electroluminescence.

The sign of the CP emission is directly determined by the handedness of the dopant. Importantly, this strategy is suitable for the simple fabrication from solution of CP organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). Such devices have application as the backlights in liquid crystal displays and the pixels in three-dimensional AMOLEDs, increasing display simplicity, efficiency and lifetime.
