Care at Home: challenges, possibilities and implications for the workforce in Wales

WIHSC, in partnership with Insight Social Research and The Management Standards Consultancy, completed the ‘Care at Home’ workforce study in Spring 2010. The study, the first of its kind in the UK, examined the care at home workforce and what is needed to make it fit for the increasing demands of providing services in future. It was commissioned in Autumn 2008 to answer three specific questions: 1. What does the care at home workforce currently look like; 2. What is the vision for the future care at home workforce; and 3. What is needed to make the current workforce fit for the future? In Autumn 2010, the study was referenced by the Independent Commission on Social Services, and influenced the 2011 Welsh Government Framework for Action in delivering ‘Sustainable Social Services for Wales’.
