Crynodeb

Engaging all lifelong learners and supporting well-being, the development of 21st century skills has highlighted the importance of effective transitions. While there are certain transitions that receive considerable attention, it is important to be aware of the potential impact all experiences of transition, as an essential element of lifelong learning and employability, have upon the individual. Therefore stakeholders in education and learning need to be aware of the impact of transition and how they can support it. There is an ongoing drive to provide a continuous educational experience for all learners, with a clear recognition that experiences in any system have a profound impact on both employability and future well-being. Beneath the political rhetoric is the need for a deepened understanding of how to develop lifelong learners, who are able to react to change positively, to think critically, reflectively and independently.
The book will provide clear strategies and practical guidance for practitioners in educational settings to provide opportunities for smooth transitions. This is supported by real life case studies from both working practitioners in a number of educational settings and key stakeholders such as pupils and parents.
