This paper reviews current IoMT security and privacy frameworks, highlighting their contributions towards addressing the challenges in the rapidly evolving domains of IoT and IoMT. It examines the role of international standardisation efforts and evaluates the effectiveness of existing frameworks in enhancing interoperability and ensuring secure, reliable medical data communication. It begins by contextualising IoT within the broader spectrum of Ubiquitous Computing and Machine-to-Machine communications, underscoring its transformative potential. The paper delves into specific IoT frameworks, like the Open IoT Framework by Sun and Memon (2017), which emphasises microservices architecture for scalable and interoperable platforms. Additionally, it covers unique IoMT frameworks, including the SaYoPillow for stress and sleep analysis and the EMRI framework for secure healthcare data communication.
