A pioneering disability expert at USW’s Newport campus has been selected for national recognition for her work on with disabled children and students. Beth Pickard has joined academics from universities including Manchester and Nottingham in the National Teaching Fellowship Scheme, a prestigious honour awarded by the UK-wide Higher Education Academy. The announcement was made today, 30 August 2018.
Dr Ben Calvert, Pro Vice Chancellor of the University of South Wales, said: “This NTFS award is a tremendous affirmation of the high quality of the work we do at USW. Beth’s pioneering contribution is challenging the way people think about disabilities, breaking new ground in collaboration between people with disabilities and community groups such as arts organisations. It is a highlight that adds to USW’s growing reputation across the board, for example in our substantial rise in the recent National Student Survey.”
